Re: Screwing the pooch....

SWL thanks for the response and the flowers look wonderful

I'm not a techie, there are those who are better "schooled in the ways of the electrons" than I.

If you guys paid for this app, it should have include some basic QC review as a deliverable. The fact that features do not work is a disappointment.

There are some true technical geniuses on this forum-I ain't one-- it might be prudent to begin a dialog to better the interface.

Happy New Year !

Bill

Re: Screwing the pooch....

It works good on my Iphone 5 but I never updated the software in the phone so that may have something to do with it. I can move around read and most likely post but I never tried from the phone. I think it has to do with the apple updated software also. But that is just my guess. My friends said they had to redo apps afterward updating.

Not sure if you tried the features as some simply don't work. See screen capture of "participated" below

Re: Screwing the pooch....

Tried Tapatalk, Did not work.

Snore documented the issue well. Without search and categorical threads, there is only half as much value in this app when using it on any updated Apple Mobile device. And that's exactly the wrong direction for any party seeking some benefit from supplying an app like this one (when most apps in the world are going mobile).

Re: Screwing the pooch....

This app is almost a complete failure in my opinion. None of the documented issues have been fixed over a month after launch. Suppose it's time to start leaving crappy reviews at the app store and other online rating sites, warning others to not bother downloading the CF app as it sucks and the site has not announced any plans to fix or replace it yet.

To those advocating downloading an app to make this app work. That idea is simply ludicrous. The whole point of an app like this is to make forum access simpler for mobile devices.

Works fine with my Samsung Note
But The side bar took some time to figure out.

One thing I have not discovered is how to log out with my phone?

Sent from my GT-N7000 using Cruisers Sailing Forum mobile app

Re: Screwing the pooch....

This app sucks. Have to log in twice. The stupid pop up for the android app never stops showing up. The mail news offer is obnoxious and continually pops up while trying to type in forms etc. Not at all impressed with the site because of this ridiculous crap. There is no need for this redundancy!

Have to agree with the previous posters. Don't like the new app at all. Haven't been able to use the search function since the "upgrade".

I have both the website & the app on my iPad & work w/ both to try & learn the app. It's probably user issues, but, I still prefer the website

This damn app crashed AGAIN while in was in the middle of a long reply to a post. This version of the iPad app officially stinks.

Re: Screwing the pooch....

Thanks for the reports, the feedback is good and it will be passed on to the tech people.

My understanding is that Cruising Forum has limited input and control of the app.

It is obviously not working well, on at least some platforms. We will crack the whip and get the software people to pedal a bit faster.

Re: Screwing the pooch....

I did try getting the CF App on my (first!) Smartphone last year - but lost the will to live. But Santa brought me a Tablet (Sony Experia - 10" screen) so now I can use the website, so no App not an issue.

One thing I did notice with the Smartphone (on other Forums!) is that I was far less likely to bother contributing due to a slow thumb and small screen size (to see what I was writing)...........with the Tablet no longer a problem with only having a thumb to type or a restriction on seeing what I have written.......but nonetheless I find a tablet makes me more of a reader than a contributor, at least in length (plusses and minuses to that for others!)..........BTW this written at home on my Notepad.

Re: Screwing the pooch....

Since the last update to the forum app on the iPad I have found myself not spending any time browsing threads. The whole look and feel of the app has changed--for me, it's enough of a change to be off-putting. I understand there's a need to keep up with iOS updates, but why change colors, formats, etc.? I miss the old app. I'll keep tuning in for new jokes every few days, but that's about it for me.

Why would cruiser forum select an app they have no control over? That seems ridiculous. Unless its just for the info police !
How do I get rid of the app popup that continuously shows up? Also the obnoxious sail news popup?
