Screwing the pooch....

Okay now that I have your attention...

Has anyone else using the new IOS having issues? I am fairly competent in using computers and designing some basic interfaces, but this one is well.... Whoever rewrote the entire application- sorta neglected to provide some release notes. One would figure a complete redesign of the user interface would justify that.

Not all the features seem to work. For example, opening the side bar and selecting "participated in" does not show threads I have posted in. The only way to keep track of that is to subscribe to a thread. But once again without some basic release notes, I could be making an error.

Just curious if anyone else is using the new IOS app and their experience.

To the moderators.... I did try to discretely raise these issues back channel, but there has been no response.

Re: Screwing the pooch....

It does fine on my iPad. Just don't use the CF App. It seems to have problems.

Screwing the pooch....

The issue with using the browser is that if you don't use the App, you get the pop-up telling you to use the App.

Guess I'm also torqued since I sent a PM about this and never got a meaningful response.

Oh yeah and out pithy signatures seem to be missing....

Re: Screwing the pooch....

I have this same issue using the app on my iphone 5. Participated is always empty since the update. Also sending a pm that is longer in length results in typing below the viewable screen so that you cannot see what you type. I was waiting for an update assuming they knew but that may not be true.

Re: Screwing the pooch....

Is there no longer an equivalent to the portal to see active threads? It's a PITA to accidentally leave a thread and not be able to find it in the "Unread" listing until another post appears.

Lesson learned... newer is not always better, and is often worse in the computer industry.

Not exactly...... The lesson learned should be to do proper QA/QC before releasing a product to the consumers.

The absence of comments from the admin or moderators is interesting

They need to find a new app developer who knows what he/she is doing. The app had always been a problem.

Re: Screwing the pooch....

It almost works as well as the older version. I am sure it will work one day. Pretty confusing because it has great potential then doesn't do anything well.
It is fun like rolling dice. I don't know what it's going to do one moment to the next.

What he said...

Although it looks as though the problem I noted in the Apple App Thread has either been fixed or is now sporadic in nature.

If the purpose of the change was to increase stability I haven't had a parse error yet. Though if confusion was the purpose it's been a resounding success n that regard too

I accidentally found this thread after searching for it unsuccessfully since Snore mentioned it in the other thread.

Apologies that no one replied to you Snore . I am embarrassed that we neglected to do so. Your offer to help improve the app was very generous.

The app is developed by a third party and unfortunately the only input they want are bug reports. We all feel very frustrated by this and that came out strongly in our discussion.

I personally do not use the app at all as I find it too restrictive (accessing it via a bookmark on the iPad I do not get the annoying pop up asking me of I want to download the app). I have not tried the new app, but will do so. These nutty weeks around Christmas I just needed everything to work smoothly and easily.

If anyone has any specific issues with the new app, this is as good a spot as any to report them. I will move this thread to Forum Tech Support and that will immediately attract the attention of Tech Admin.

Cheers

Re: Screwing the pooch....

My advice is to not use the new app but instead use Tapatalk which now works because the new app uses the Tapatalk API.

It all works very smoothly using Tapatalk; I don't understand why they ever thought yet another new app would be better than Tapatalk which has been under active development for all these years. The only thing I can come up with is that there is some anger between CF and Tapatalk...
