How Did You Find CruisersForum.com?

How did you find the CruisersForum? It might be valuable to know how our membership came to find us - either to do “more of that”, or to diversify our “searchability”.

I tried several “Google” web-searches* this morning:

Yacht Maintainance - ranked #1
Yacht Maintenance - not in the first 45 returns
Yacht Maintainance, Boat Building, Tips & Tricks - ranked #2
Cruising sailors - ranked #4
“Cruising sailors” - ranked #3
“Sailing Forum” - ranked #7
Sailing Forum - ranked #9
cruising + sailboat - not in the first 45 returns
sailboat cruising - not in the first 45
cruising information - not in the first 45
Sailing with transmission in N or R - not in the first 45

Note the yacht maintenance vs maintainance spelling had very different results. Spellmign is all- important in web-searching!

Thanks for doing that Gord! I will add some profile fileds to the registration so that we can have new members tell us how they found us and us that to optimize our marketing... I also have a lot of ads running right now on Google (pretty much using the money we make on ads to post our own ads).

When I was considering buying my trimaran, I was searching for info on cruising on trimarans, piver trimarans etc. That is what brought me to the site.

I found this forum because it was recommended by good old boat in one of their issues.
By the by-we just closed the deal on our ranch 2 hours ago so will be looking for a boat and lots of advice.We are pretty excited!

I searched specifically for either cruising forum or sailing forum. I don't remember which exactly, but either way it's in the top 10 on google (2nd for cruising, 7th for sailing at the time of this post).

I found it interesting that a search for cruising message board rather than cruising forum mostly found cruise line related links, rather than small boat sailing links.

I am another stumblebum.

Bob Stumblebum Norson here... I've heard it called 'screen sucking' when you diddle when you are already done with the duties. "I wonder if there is such a thing as a 'cruisers forum?'" Hit google and there it was. Once I found this one I wandered around to see if there were others and there are but... no way! I like it that you don't have to register to brouse. I have put a button on my home page to link to this site by way of a page explaining it. I plan to introduce the site in the next paper edition. It might be interesting.

I was directed to this site by a guy I “met” on catalinaowners.com As I recall, his name was Gord May, nice enough fellow, seemed knowledgeable with a fun sense of humor. I even invited him over for a beer at my boat that is (still) at TBYC on Mission Island, beside the mast racks.
