I have an hold high school friend that works at a marina in mamaroneck for the last million years and helped me out tremendously.. (thanx Artie)..we got to talking other day and heard him a little apprehensive about the novice title on me. the next day when we spoke i told him you don't have to mince words. i'm almost as novice as can be.. i'm presently anchored inside absecon inlet to get boat south, anchored near the golden nugget casino.. last nite i got the worst of it ridin out what seemed like gusts of 60-70 at midnight. Knew something was comin but forecast said 30mph and used navionics anchor spot that said swift current, a little protection but i was following a boat named evening star from maine into the inlet and he hung a left and i went under the bridge to my spot. ..maxwell 10-8 windlass with wireless remote (a godsend) mantus 45, mantus bridle oversized and mantus chain hook saved me i believe.. boat did not budge an inch and trusted what i bought to get more sleep after awakening at midnight to see all hell breaking loose. went topside and thought my decks would be cleared of everything lashed to em..met Lynn Pardey at Annapolis a few years back and got to talking about teaching larry some pool. (Larry's in a bad way and wish him peace) near the end of our conversation, Lynn asked me what boat i had and i said a pearson 35, she said "oh that's a good boat". hearing that from such a legend gave me hope. Seen Lynn again this year and reminded of what she said and she said it again. thinkin i'm starting out right. this is my first time out doing this. ran a 75 foot lcm-8 in 72-73 athens, greece during the vietnam war for 18 months (no vietcong got into athens on my watch) . haven't sailed in over fifty yrs. and that was with my old man on the long island sound.. he taught me alot, not to steer you away from this site but everyone knows my old man, you can read the story on my website. eddiethelock.com and go to wonka story.. cannot thank this forum enough for all i picked up over the years. so much knowledge here and i caught alot of it from some good people. this am however after lifting the anchor and heading to cape may (at least that was my hope) nw winds at 17-18 and heading out figured to let out the genoa a bit out of the inlet.. what fun.. the furler sheet got away from me and all hell broke loose..genny came entirely off the track and i headed into the wind and ran up on deck to drop it on deck.. boating is fun!! ran into another harbor and seen evening star all cozy and thought "only a rocket scientist would have followed to his anchorage"..i would've stayed in there for a long time with no worries.. lesson learned.. thought he was maybe headin to a marina for the night. lashed down the genoa and looked at damage, the plastic guide that feeds the genny onto the track is now sitting on the sail on deck off the furler. (it's a furlex furler and any guidance would be appreciated) i'll get to it after cape may..started engine and figured to run to cape may on motor.. got out there and after about 45 minutes cut back and anchored next to evening star.. this single handing stuff will get you in shape.. gonna cut my days under 40 miles. start out near sandy hook, boat was berthed in Carraige house marina in Sea Bright.. Class Acts! left manasquan early am other day,rained all day, and ended up in little egg harbor in pitch black entry, .was real tired and a bit nervous about not seeing 5 ft in front of me.trusted my b&g vulcan to guide me in and dropped anchor, my 3.9 draft was helpful i'm sure.. leavin that inlet looked like cape fear with breakers everywhere ..was thinking of goin inside now to cape may cause of the exhaustion i've been witnessing but reading skpper bob there's too many bridges to cover .. only 39 miles to cape may and my just motor down to it.. any advice appreciated..thought i would've been gone years ago but a bad bike wreck put me in a coma for a couple months with a broken neck and lost kidney and left leg lotsa titanium.. sorry for the rant.. or any typos

But James Joyce/stream-of-consciousness without punctuation and paragraph separation doesn't work and play well with old eyes, bifocals, cataract surgery aftermath... and computer screens...

Agreed.
Life is too short to try to wade through something as difficult as this. It shows why punctuation and sentence construction are important. As per my perogative, I chose to skip trying.

I suppose my reason for posting this, is to suggest that communication takes effort. If you want to communicate and someone to listen, there usually isn't much point in speaking Swahili to a Norwegian (as an example).

But all hats off, kudos and total respect to those who do make efforts to communicate in other than their first language - mistakes and all. I salute and thank you.

The problem is that is difficult to find out what he wants with that writing style.

I don't have a problem with spelling or lack of advanced grammar however the way the OP was written makes it very hard to read. A few proper sentences and a couple of paragraphs would have made a huge difference and we could perhaps help out.

Really, if one wants some information, one needs to communicate such requests in a manner that others usually use.
