Ninja Foodi

We use and love our Instant pot, but surfing around I see theres a Ninja FD401 Foodi 8qt - 9 in one extra large cooker and air fryer stainless steel pressure cooker. Did a quick search here and didnt see anything. Does anyone have one of these swiss army knife pressure cookers? If so, do you like it?

Re: Ninja Foodi

don't know this model, but we had a large pressure cooker once which was really impractical at sea, firstly it would only sit on half the burner, resulting in one side getting burnt.
the other problem was the weight when full on a gimballed cooker which made it want to turn turtle, solved it by putting a few dive weights in the oven!
the other problem was where to store it.

we now have one that fits nicely on the 2 burner alongside another similar sized pot so if cooking for a lot of crew ,you can boil a big pot of rice at the same time as a big stew in the pressure cooker

We believe a pressure cooker is a vital piece of kit - we have 2 - 1 in the boat and 1 in the 5th wheel - both instant pots. The Foodi just has a whole lot of extras to be really believable and might be a space saver. Im just wondering if its too good to be true even for a hefty $250 price tag.

John
found the ninja online and saw it is not a pressure cooker in the true sense!
never used one,but might come in handy if you run out of cooking gas.
how would you run it,shore power, inverter or genset, must pull a few amps?
where would you store it when not in use looks bigger than most handy lockers in the average galley

Re: Ninja Foodi

I have Foodi I bought to combine several galley appliances into one. I have a powerboat with generators, and a good inverter system so the wattage isn't an issue. Pressure cooking speeds up cooking, so in that function you actually use less power. It's easier to use than a stove top pressure cooker. I've baked bread, cooked whole small turkey, french fries, and the usual pot cooking. I use it in warm weather when it's too hot for the diesel stove.

I bought their recipe book, but that is a waste unless you're Julia Child.

Thanks for the information! Just what I was looking for.
