Re: Mill my own T-track? Aluminum Bronze or Silicon Bronze?

Thanks but it is not that kind of boat. High D/L. No rail meat.

It has T track currently, just rather beat up ugly aluminum.

Re: Mill my own T-track? Aluminum Bronze or Silicon Bronze?

By "mini saw arbor" i meant to say "slotting saw arbor" or "slitting saw arbor" as used on a mill to cut slits.

I am toying with cannibalizing a cheap drill press and turning it...

Re: Mill my own T-track? Aluminum Bronze or Silicon Bronze?

I agree, and will make this ability easy to rig. There are many unkowns about this boat-sails and I will be too far from a home workshop for big mods. So I will do just this. make a barber hauler. ...

Re: Mill my own T-track? Aluminum Bronze or Silicon Bronze?

Does one or the other bronze alloy require this? this has long been a concern for me. 1" track on my boat.

I never needed prebend on normal aluminum track.
I have prebent seat track...

Re: Mill my own T-track? Aluminum Bronze or Silicon Bronze?

By "two layers" you mean the top of the T is a flat bar maybe 1/8" thick and 1" wide (if a 1" track) and the bottom is square or rectangle bar that makes the | of the T? it worked well? for how...

Thanks for responding on this topic!! 2 years later!!! Let me digest what you wrote after work. I was just about to revisit the silicon vs aluminum bronze debate, order materials, and then rent...

Re: Best orientation of fairleads at the base of winches? - opinions appreciated

I have A and B on pads that angle the winches out 15 deg. This helps give that 5-15 deg below base feed angle from the jib/geny. I have used winches that are angled out. they are great when pulling...

Re: Best orientation of fairleads at the base of winches? - opinions appreciated

Oh, you are so thoughtful for investigating my particular boat. Indeed there are also pad eyes near there for the main sheet but "E7" is well forward of them. Thanks.

Re: Best orientation of fairleads at the base of winches? - opinions appreciated

Yes, aft cabin (aka center cockpit)

Sloop

No staysail rigging. Might add removable storm staysal after i get a feel for her but i highly doubt it. She is so little to begin with i doubt it...

Best orientation of fairleads at the base of winches? - opinions appreciated

I am restoring a Nor’Sea27. Rebuilt all the teak rails ($$$). I disliked how the winches were setup and plan to drill them in place next week as shown in the drawing below. Not something I ever want...

Re: Compass card that alternates red, blue, green, black each 90 deg? PlastimoContest

I agree that the numbering is terrible. I was sad to see that when i found that product.

Re: Plastimo's stationary lubber lines vs balanced lubber lines?

NO i am not sure. all i have is Plastimo's text saying "lubber lines mounted in the lower part of the bowl" and that photo. If what you say is correct that is ideal.

Plastimo's stationary lubber lines vs balanced lubber lines?

Re: Needed: internal tank fill tube, 1.5"NPT thread, 1.5" hose barb.

Re: Needed: internal tank fill tube, 1.5"NPT thread, 1.5" hose barb.

In a normal rectangular word I would have just TIGed a stainless tube to a barb fitting.

This is the tank. Note the location of the fill tube thread. A ridged tube will not work.
