Re: Flat Panel/entertainment system suggestions?

As I recall we used a flat panel LED tv with a built in DVD Port on Tribute. It worked great. We had an antenna that we mounted on the top of a scrub brush handle stuck in a rod holder when we wanted...

Re: Diesel Engine Repower & Overhaul - Facts request

I re-powered my Brewer 12.8 with a new 75hp Yanmar. The engine I replaced was a Peugeot blocked Lehman and parts including a dip stick and head gaskets were simply not available. The old engine...

Re: First phone call with a boat owner - what to ask?

Always ask how old the pictures are. Pictures can be years old and not represent the current state of condition at all. I’ve even seen some listings that posted pictures of a sales brochure from...

Re: Why do people replace diesel engines in a sailboat?

We replaced our Peugeot blocked Lehman because parts were simply unavailable for it. We couldn’t even get head gaskets. The Ford Lehman is well supported by American Diesal but the Peugeot blocked...

Re: Composting Head Impact on Resale

We, too, had a boat with two heads and replaced one with an Airhead. On a 5 month cruise our traditional head plugged up with scale to the point that a traditional rebuild kit couldn’t repair it. We...

Re: Composting Head: Plus or Minus on resale

I realize I didn't answer your question. We sold the boat last March in about two weeks. We've kept in touch with the new owner. He's undecided if he'll keep the composting head. If he decides to...

Re: Composting Head: Plus or Minus on resale

Our Brewer 12.8 had two conventional heads when we bought her we replaced one with an Airhead composting toilet and we loved it. It saved our bacon on one cruise to the Bahamas when the remaining...

Re: Florida question - Can anyone recommend a Standing Rigging technician?

Another vote for Mack Sails. They replaced all the standing rigging on our Brewer 12.8. Very good work at a fair price.

Re: Maintenance Cost V.S. Property Tax!

Everyone we ever knew who bought a condo in an association that had really low monthly fees ended up paying thousands later for maintenance not covered by the fees. One assessment on a two bedroom...

Re: Have BOTH a composting toilet and marine head

Airhead has a gizmo that replaced the crank end at the bowl so you can replace the crank with a socket wrench handle. Works great and reduces the space requirements. Practical Sailor did a comparison...

We've been using an Airhead on Tribute for 6 years. We have the fan and have zero odor. Ours is a two head boat. I've had to rebuild the Raritan which is also 6 years old twice and replace the hoses...

Re: Want to Buy 44' to 48' bluewate cutter rigged monohull

Not sure if you're still in the market but we've decided it's time to sell our Brewer 12.8. She misses the mark in some ways (we have a centerboard) and she's only 42' but Practical Sailor says...

Can a flag interfere with a hard solar panel?

I don't think I've ever asked a question before but I've learned a lot by reading the forum. Here's my question. I had to relocate the spot from which I fly the American flag on our Brewer 12.8...

Re: Have BOTH a composting toilet and marine head

We have both and last year that proved to be a God send. Our 3 year old Raritan PH II became completely inoperable due to a buildup of calcium. Our Airhead saved our cruise.

The standard head has...
