At 09:57 GMT Monday 2 December our friends were heading SE, straight towards continental Europe's westernmost point, Cabo da Roca - with a boat speed of 8.9 knots.

Our friends apparently have reefed down for the night, maintaining a rather modest boat speed of 7.6 knots, now on a ESE'erly direction (2316 GMT Sunday 1 December).

At 1015 GMT today Sunday 1 December, the efficient seafarers on LA VAGABONDE have 364 nautical miles to go "as the crow flies".

They're on a beam reach making 9.2 knots and heading ESE - a course...

Most probably they are unaware. And if not, my guess is they would just shrug their shoulders. At least Greta Thunberg is used to MUCH more negative comments from adult males. And also from VERY MUCH...

Yes, I agree.
During the last hours, they have been heading SE, E, and then NNE. My guess is that they are "gybe-tacking" down wind, in order to maintain as good boat speed as possible.

Our friends shortened their distance to Lisbon by yet another 200 n.m. during the last 24 hours. :thumb: Average VMG on a straight rhumb line was 8.3 knots.

First of all, the tanker SOLA TS did not sail "close to shore". The distance was more than half a nautical mile (about 1 km).

Apparently, our friends have chosen the northern one. Still heading NE-ENE.
I note that BW's northern route goes all the way up to approximately N43°.
