Re: 3/4” Star board under motor mounts

I wonder if coldflow/creep might be more applicable here than compressive strength. No doubt related. My knowledge on this has hit the limit.

Separ fuel filters...

I am now the curious owner of 2x Separ diesel filters. While I do appreciate the fine German design, the number of loose parts to effect a filter change is bordering on ridiculous.
I have a Racor...

Re: 3/4” Star board under motor mounts

Depends on the availability of 3/4" G10 in a reasonable sized sheet.
Consider delrin; hard/stable. You can get small sheets via ebay.

Re: AIS transceiver antenna spreader or stern?

My AIS antenna mounted near solar panels gets only 4 mile range when MPPT is charging. At night it has 20 mile range. I have since filtered the victrons to tame them down a bit.

Re: Entering a sailboat over a sugar scoop transom in heavy seas

Note that many ladders will have a couple of seriously powerful pinch points when “active” in seas. Ive boarded dozens of different boats in open ocean, in dive gear dress and platform slap is the...

Re: Victron gone nuts!

Proceed with caution on this one. Carb cleaner in my shop is acetone and toluene. Not something i would spray on many types of plastic.

Re: Odd deck hardware

I think so also. But not a mark on it. No part no., no load rating, no vendor. I hesitate to put on my spin halyard; a fuse deployment would be exiting.
Maybe for the sheet? But then u have a...

Odd deck hardware

Another item in spares. Google view not much help. Could be part of a genniker system.
Seems big just to swivel. Just under 6” long.

Re: How are people charging Li/LA hybrid setups?

No; its the large Li bank that has the potential for overheating the stock alternator. So the DC to DC output is the house and insures a limited amount of AMPS. Of course the inverse is possible...

Re: Teeny Tiny Wire - Big Headache

12AWG for an anchor lamp? Has a stability analysis been done on this aloft weight? OK, just kidding, but AWG16 makes much more sense, and I would use a 24AWG crimp ferrule on the lamp, and same,...

Re: Faulty bypass diode on solar panel?

Re: Faulty bypass diode on solar panel?

two terminal devices in series MUST have identical current flows. So, if your sunny panels want to deliver 5A with its associated Voltage, then the shaded panel, let's say without a bypass diode,...

Re: Lagoon 380 w/AC Min Generator Size

that's exactly how we did our system. started with the 2200i, ended up with nexgen 5.5 wired to do either 120 or 240v for our 3500psi nitrox compressor. Neither ac unit needs softstart, the...

Re: Faulty bypass diode on solar panel?

If the bypass diode becomes forward biased, then there will be only -.6V across the panel and no output power from that panel will exist, and the diode will conduct all of the good panels amperage. ...

Re: Faulty bypass diode on solar panel?

Its possible to buy DIN rail diode blocks. These are good for 5A. Maybe higher ratings are available.

Re: Faulty bypass diode on solar panel?

Yes, they will see a maximum Vrev of the rated Voc of ONE panel. You don't install these at the MPPT, you install these at the panel junction box, assuming only two conductors reach the MPPT.
