Re: Edinburgh - Nearest 50T Hoist
Hi Laird - thanks for the reply. Probably too far in the wrong direction. I need to get her to Hull, but don't fancy the journey until the hull is clean and inspected. She has a lot of growth and... |

Edinburgh - Nearest 50T Hoist
I have a boat in Edinburgh that weighs around 40 Tonnes, steel of course. There is no 50T hoist anywhere near to lift her out for a hull scrape and paint. Even Hartlepool (which is a way down)... |

Re: Heads: I lose!
The installation is new and should work. The macerater is close to the head outlet and beneath to stay wet. The pipes are new, the 20A pump is switched through a 40A relay. It's a simple... |

Re: Heads: I lose!
I think running dry is the problem. I anticipated this and put the pump below the head. However, the first challenging slug of paper caused the pump to run dry and then lose any power of suction to... |

Heads: I lose!
Over the last 4 years of live aboard, nothing has caused me more frustration or loss of time than the 2 heads we have. The last brainwave was to buy a Jabsco lite flush which got through 4 belt kits... |

Re: Jabsco 58500 Lite Flush
Credit where credit is due! I'm not 100% sure if these are just dealers, or if they are actually Jabsco, but I emailed Xylem JabscoShop - Jabsco & Rule Pumps and more - from the experts... |

Re: Jabsco 58500 Lite Flush
I've found a supplier! £110 for the kit!!! that's $220. I've had about 30 flushes. Add the two pulley kits and we're talking $300 + for 30 flushes. $10 per flush! What a piece of junk! |

Re: Jabsco 58500 Lite Flush
New hosing was installed, it's all patent. Macerator spins freely with no undue noise, play, or vibration. It's brand new. This is the last Jabsco toilet I will ever buy. I have the schematic, but... |

Re: Jabsco 58500 Lite Flush
A quick update on my useless Jabsco Lite flush. From installation it lasted 3 days before the belt and pulley went. From replacing the belt again, it lasted 5 days before the new belt... |

Re: What's your WiFi solution ?
If you think Ubiquiti is difficult to configure, you'll get a nosebleed with Mikrotik. The advantage is you can make a Mikrotik router do almost whatever you want, but the disadvantage is it requires... |

Re: What's your WiFi solution ?
I use a 1W Mikrotik Groove, superior to the bullet it but requires above average skills in network programming likely beyond most cruisers. The router currently has 3 WAN inputs; 1. 3G/4G via... |

Re: Single, Female, and living aboard?
Hi deblen An interesting group, but where I live there are no shortage of female sailors. It's those who choose to liveaboard or cruise that seem to be few and far between. ... Fizz |

Single, Female, and living aboard?
Before I get berated as a dirty old man, I am genuinely curious. Reading through some posts here old and new, it appears most are from fellow men. It would seem living aboard and cruising is... |

Re: Jabsco 58500 Lite Flush
Mine lasted 3 days, the macerater no longer spins after hearing a grinding noise , but I hear the motor spinning. I'd take it back but it was in my shed a year before I got round to fitting it. ... |

Re: Russian Navy found Abandoned Sailboat
I heard the owner was spearfishing his breakfast. Imagine his face to see it on the horizon tethered to a Ruskie naval vessel when he resurfaced. JK |

Re: Liveaboard questions. Wife is onboard :)
The answer to this lies solely with you. Living aboard presents its own unique set of challenges, but these challenges differ between larger and smaller boats. Living aboard a smaller boat has... |

Re: Make Money While Cruising - List
Hey I'll take what I can get, limp, squint, warts and all. As I've got older I've noticed what used to be a ten pinter is now a two pinter. Don't need any more kids though! :) ... Fizz |
