As of 2023 this rule is still in operation.
There is very little information to be found why Greek Port Police require the captain to be changed every 6 month.

Our companions boat was fined €300...

Around £10,000 of that was work that needed doing to the boat.
Standing rigging re-done, saildrive seal replaced, steering housing and bearing replaced, through hulls replaced etc.

We're taking a very slow boat to Greece, no hurry no plans. We have used a lot of marinas and have had the engine...

The drain plugs are in and are tight and there's no sign of any oil in the bottom of the engine or bilge area.

I'm chasing a Bavaria 37 at the moment.
Had survey done and the oil is one of a few things that's come up.

I'm in the process of buying the boat and the owner claims it was completely serviced by the Volvo Dealer at the marina last December.

I've no idea if the boats been used since then but...

I visited Kalamata Marina but not by boat.
They seem quite organised for a small marina. They did appear to allow live aboards as well.
It's also only 15 mins drive from the airport.

All keys, phones and wallets live in the small tub until back on land.
