Nice boat! A fellow in the marina I use has one and regularly sails it solo. He sails through the night to Maine and arrives late afternoon. I asked how he does it and he remarked 'he takes little naps' on the way. He reminds me of J.Slocumb! Actually I envy his spirit.

Apparently that little catch on your side grew. Please take care and allow time to heal. You must take it easy. With that being said I know how hard it is to lay idle. It's hard. Watch another good movie, fall asleep, wake up, eat, watch another great movie, fall asleep......You now have a plan. Hope you feel better.

We would love to meet your mom, (I am re-reading her book) but we have scheduled our garage sale and I am watching our grandson this weekend. I am sure there will be another time we can arrange something. We are trying to schedule the survey and sea trial for next week, (Thursday) if Roy can squeeze us in. Sorry we can't make it for the tanks, but I'm sure we will be ready and able on the next repair/upgrade.

Our choices are Roy Newberry or Mike Firestone. I believe James has contacted Roy. We know Roy but we have heard great things about both. Let me know your opinion on these two, or if you have others in mind. Thank you for the prayers. Lord knows we need them. To help us make the right decisions and make this transition as smooth as possible. We are just excited, I can sometimes contain my excitement but James is another matter. Pins and needles. We will find out today about our offer.

Carolyn will be getting back to us today on the LN 35. We are so excited. Jumping up and down. Thank you for your positive attitude. You have a great attitude, all things may be overcome.
If/when this happens. It'll be the lobster dinner on our new cruiser. Pray this is what the Lord has in mind for us. See you soon.

I think it's like riding a bicycle. I sold my boat in '95 but when I get on one now it's pretty much their still, not the fine points & certainly not the unity? if that's the right term to take on a blue water passage.
I'd been in the Navy and with construction being in the toilet I've been working on updating my CG papers to go merchant mariner thing - getting paid to be on the water isn't a bad thing at all. Any way even with that testing it seems like it all comes back.

I don't think you give yourself enough credit. I don't know if I've ever met anyone who's sailed on thevariety of boats you have, it's funny how posters will ask 'what about this boat?' & every time it's one you're familiar with. It's great.

If you don't have an endless supply of money being a nurse would be advantageous I would think in going places and making some extra cash. Especially with the training you receive here in the states. I'm currently in nursing school and was curious about this if you have looked into it or experienced it personally. However, I would be totally cool with making tips in the Caribbean somewhere. I have met people in the Caymans that go there just to take advantage of the weaker American $$.

Before I ask you the question I was going to ask. Didn't you say that you were an nurse?

Here is my number one question: I have spent the past three years sailing on Lake Travis near Austin. Great lake, always windy, and I have the place all to myself often. I especially love sailing at night. I usually sail until 1 or 2 AM two nights a week. I LOVE night sailing.

I have only had my boat on Galveston Bay for a few weeks. Lights don't work, so only day sailing. Sailing around there in the day makes night sailing look really scary. Tons of obstructions. Many look uncharted. I soon plan to mostly sail in the gulf. Does the gulf have the same problem?

Do you think the odds of a collision with an unlit, uncharted object make night sailing foolish in the bay? In the gulf? Please tell me I am worrying too much! I cannot stand the thought of giving up night sailing!

    Thanks for your advice!
