DOGGY Release

Hi Everyone
Looking to find out the ideas out there about doggy relief time. We are looking at Catamarans to sail up and down the coast of Florida, maybe Bahamas.

we were looking at some online and it occurred to us that we overlooked one piece of the puzzle (probably a lot more), but for now our question is when under sail where does a 95lb lab/retriever relieve himself?

We had the house pads when he was a puppy, but that did not even work then. Just wondering how other people have dealt with this.

Re: DOGGY Release

Boating with animals is problematic, cats are much easier as they instinctively pursue using a litter box and their mess is much less than a large dog like yours. Dogs can be hard to train as to their relief habits as that does not come naturally. And remains an unpleasant, frequent and tiresome task to clean up after them, even if they become trained to hit a specific spot. Personally, I have found it much easier to just not bring the pets aboard my boats.

Re: DOGGY Release

I'm just gonna go out and say it. My Dalmatian pees and craps in the cockpit. I clean it up. It took a bit of time, but he figured it out when he didn't want to wait any longer while on a his first 3 day passage.

Re: DOGGY Release

Lucky you, some dogs are difficult to get to do it!

Re: DOGGY Release

Hi, Welcome aboard CF, kjon.

Here's a link to a recent thread on the subject: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ing-42973.html

How I found it was to use the Custom Google Search (under the search button). There were a number of other threads there. It is the search to use for concepts. The other search requires exact match and is case sensitive.

Re: DOGGY Release

I wish I had that golden nugget for you, but I’ll be watching this space. I can’t keep mine from fouling up the pool deck; there’s no way he’s getting invited aboard until I can get this under control.

I know it offers absolutely nothing for you, but you’re not alone. I hope you find your resolution here, I’ll be watching with interest.

I have seen those grass squares though, perhaps that could work.
