OK, How Do You REALLY Feel About Cooking Aboard ?

We need to eat. Some of us (most of us) like to eat. Some of us LOVE to eat!

BUT, how do you really feel about the actual task of cooking? Yes, sometimes there isn't time, or we're too tired. All things being equal, though, do you like it or hate it? Do you like really good food, or can you take it or leave it?

LOVE IT. I love surprising guests that come to visit with a menu that shows we are not eating camping food. We cook Mexican, Chinese, Italian and more. No oven on board so we bake on the grill- pizza, lasagna, bread, enchiladas, mango crisp, etc.

The pantry is very well stocked and is missing very few items that I had on land. When we get to an island with a decent grocery store we purchase harder to find items like enchilada sauce, chinese vegetables or arborio rice!

I love cooking onboard as much as I love cooking at home. More so, in fact, simply because the view is so much better, and it's more fun catching stuff when you hit waves. And for some reason the food tastes even better (which is amazing, since I'm always an awesome cook) on a boat.

I don't like how it gets cold so quick on windy days though.

I am spoiled! I have always been spoiled by having great chefs who are wonderful partners; preparing delicious, healthy, food that is chosen and prepared with love and care.

I will do anything in my power to keep my talented partner happy and if that means staying out of her kitchen (galley) so be it !!

We eat out whenever she feels like it and as often as she likes, but both of us generally prefer our meals at home for quality and hygiene reasons.

Basically, I worship at her feet at mealtimes!

I love to eat and I love to cook. But I am a lousy cook on the boat. My first mate is a true sea-cook-master though. She will often give me a shocker when I sit in the cockpit thinking how much worse the sea can get only to hear her "so what do you want for dinner".

To me, the galley is far more important than the nav table. But do not try this at home - I either cross, or else stay put.

my boat is my home. so , as a result, i cook as if it were--LOl--propane stove is awesome and i love my boat !!!!!!!!!!! pozole is awesome and i cook it frequently -- also anything else i wanna eat..LOL

HOME IS WHERE THE BOAT IS!!!!!

Ok I cook at home and like it Oh I live on the boat half the year so that's my Home So I like to cook at home......

I love to cook and my favorite place to dine is in the cockpit. If given the choice to cook on board or head to shore I'll always stay on board. I like that I don't choose my anchorages because they are near restaurants and I've always got a waterfront view.

There are a few things onboard that I can do but my wife is much better than I am in the galley. Having the ingredients and time is the only thing that really holds back our food. Sometimes it's heated up chili when the weather is crap or we're lazy.

cleaning up suxxxxx bad--is only me 'n' bubba daboatkat..he isnt a good cleaner except of himself...

cooking is FUN--i live on my boat so is my home, anywhere i am--i am a great cook-- just ask robert, the friend i left in sd......wish he were here....

I love to cook, at home or aboard... and I always get a really happy smug feeling when I produce something like crepes with frambois and creme while we are out on the water...

or whatever. people are really impressed when you can cook outta the little galley on most small boats.

I have 18" of counter, a 2 burner propane and a tiny 10" by 12" sink.

Since my wife and I got married 20+ years ago we have had the following understandment - she cooks one week and I cook the next week. This has really worked well because nether one of us has to do all the cooking and planning menus. We find that we try new recipes or cuisines on a weekly basis. I guess it helps that we both love to cook and try new things.
