At least on several islands figs are so prolific that they are given away - I was in heaven in August on Tilos, I had my fill of warm ripe fruit picked straight off the tree. Back on board, figs halved and topped with Danish blue cheese and grilled were the icing on the cake .

Red lentil and orange soup is one of my favourites in winter. Red lentils are extremely hard to source here though (they are all brown) so I look forward to Turkey
I have taken string and needle to dried figs before and hung it from the rafters in our smoke house(no smoke) and I still have figs 2 yrs later(course the bush keeps putting them on)...
