Log book reconstruction

I am going for my six pack license and taking a class.

I have been sailing for over twenty years but have not kept log.

I can reconstruct my trips down the coast of Ca from SF to LA, Caribbean vacations, charters in Germany and saling in Dubai etc. To enter into a log.

Is this permisible for the hours required or do i have to start over???

Re: Log book reconstruction

For the vessels that you owned, you can "self document," meaning you will need to provide proof of ownership of the vessel(s) from the state of registry or the USCG, then you can log the hours you recall. The charters are a different story. You would need the owners of the charter vessels to sign off on your hours.

JohnEasley’s response is dead on the money.
I’m in the process of doing the same thing.

Documenting seatime for your own vessel is fairly straight forward - here is a link to the official doc: https://www.dco.uscg.mil/Portals/9/N...ms/CG_719S.pdf
Time spent on someone else’s vessel, must be attested to by that vessel’s owner.

BTW, a “day” is any day in which you “served” for at least 4hrs. So in my case, a 3hr day sail up the hudson doesn’t count as a day.

Here is another link that covers all of the professional qualifications and explains what to do: https://www.dco.uscg.mil/nmc/mmc_evaluation/

Hope this helps.
