Winter Sailing

Just checked the Environnment Canada weather reports for northern Vancouver Island. Sartine Island lighthouse last night reported average winds of 59 knots, gusting to 64 knots. Winds above 40 knots all day. Add cold and heavy rain to the mix. Not a day to be out on the water!! What happened to the balmy days of summer!

Re: Winter Sailing

Yuk! Thanks for making me feel better about the wet weather we have had lately lol! My boats tucked away until spring. No winter sailing for me...

Re: Winter Sailing

We are winter sailing the eastern Caribbean. Launching from Chaguaramos, Trinidad on Monday. No snow in the current forecast. Wind east 15-20. Headed to Antigua to meet up with the Salty Dawg rally.

Re: Winter Sailing

That sounds like so much yuk, personally I'm getting ready for the lovely New England winter, last night was nice upper 50° F and this afternoon I actually saw 71° F this afternoon (10&21 degrees for all the metric types) with a WSW breeze at about 10-15knts so it absolutely killed me to be sitting in the slip not many days like that left before the twin terrors of Hell show up ( General Snow, and General Ice)

Re: Winter Sailing

We will be sailing all winter - temps in the 70s-80s in day 60s at night - good winds - good seas - and a very active sailing community --

Come over to Herzliya Israel - we have wintered over in Tunisia 2 years and Turkey 3 years and this is shaping up to be the best ever -
