New Sailor here! MA/CT/RI

Hi All!
After 4+ years of watching sailing YouTube's, reading sailing books/magazines and taking some ASA classes, my husband and I are about to put an offer in on a 1983 Cal 39 mkiii!!

If anyone has suggestions on a surveyor in the area of the CT/RI shore that would be much appreciated. Also taking suggestions for a Marina in that area.

Can't wait to be in the water next summer!!

Thanks in advance for all the information from you salty sailors I learn from reading this forum, as we fix up the boat this winter!

Re: New Sailor here! MA/CT/RI

A member here suggested Spicer marina in CT for winter storage and bottom work, they didn’t have space this winter so I am storing somewhere else but you could give them a call and ask if they would be able to accommodate you next summer or direct you elsewhere if they cannot.

Welcome and good luck.

Dodson's in Stonington has a very nice setup for moorings. Excellent launch service and very secure. It also has a nice boatyard with travel lift. Also a great town with several places to eat out including at the marina.. Where are you driving from?

Barnaby Blatch from Westerly RI is an excellent surveyor:

Coming from south of Worcester, so really we are an hour and 20 minutes from many coastal areas, but since the boat is on the eastern CT coast, we're just going to stay there for our first shake down season.
