Just joined-been a watcher a long time, we full time live aboard (own no real estate) So...fea a 40 foot Tollycraft in Central coast Oregon, (both 75-plus), and retired for 20-ish years now (Port Engineer/Propulsion), with our cats and dog.

Never sailed, our blue watering was (many years ago) always as coastal motor vessel navigators on Trawler designs throughout the Americas and Caribe, as part of the businesses (mine or theirs) Tuna and commercial boat building/fisheries development work.

Travelled the Baker to midway hawaii to Japan and south China sea area in the Navy, and later with their fisheries from here (again, boat building and consulting).

Now in process of restarting the Podcast radio show from onboard here, and always debriefing the cruisers (mostly sail) and dock walkers that wander by, for tales and updates,

Hi. I am new too and sounds like you could help with some of the unique perspective I will have to use as an old woman looking to liveaboard. I will be accompanied by my wonderful daughter and 1 dog & 1 cat. I currently live on island off coastal NC. Spent much of my life around water and want to get up close & personal with the sea for this last season of my life. Probably start with small trawler to get my sea degree. Take some sailing classes then move to a cat. I am in reasonably good health but I know its kinda late to do this kind of thing. Any issues I should consider besides my stash of Aspercream and how close is nearest hospital? Any tips so very appreciated...
