New boat, new to sailing, new nationality.

Hello all,

I have been a lurker for years. I have wanted to sail since childhood and took what opportunities arose, when I lived in Oregon. I sold my home, moved to Portugal, obtained Portuguese/EU citizenship and have now purchased my first boat. A beautifully maintained Vancouver 27, which I am honored to receive from the original owners family.

My boat is currently stored on the hard in Denmark, where I plan on sailing her next spring, then either sail her back to Portugal, or store her again, until the following spring and then return to Portugal, via the Kiel canal, after having gained experience and familiarity with the vessel.

Her hull was completed in 1982, with VAT paid and so has no purchase or annual tax due in Portugal. I am currently considering where to register her.

Thanks for having me aboard.

Welcome aboard CF, Sepharad. Enjoy your time here, your new boat (an excellent choice for a first boat, BTW) and your new life.

Well done!

Jim
