It's a new year and it's time!

Hi CF folks!

My name is Shane and I have been sailing for about 10 years on/off. My sailing resume is shorter than I would like it to be - ASA 101 & 102, friends boats, cruising, lots of day sails, Catalinas, Lidos, and Hunters mostly.

Anyway, I have been toying with buying for years now. Every time I get close (two times prior) I remember the old B.O.A.T. acronym and shy away or life just gets the hell in the way.

Not this time. This time I have the cash (no debt is key for me) and my oldest son just signed up for his ASA 101 class in Feb. So, it's a new year and it is about damn time for me to get my face in the wind and salt in my beard.

I will be searching the forums (trying hard not to post stuff that has already been posted) and will be looking forward to the great advice that CF has to offer from all the salty sailors out there.

We are based in SoCal and would love any links to meetups or other general resources. Happy New Year!

Congratulations. It's good to bite the bullet, and say this is life... gotta do it.

Welcome to CF.

Where in SoCal? If in San Diego PM me. I'm trying to go for sail this weekend if I don't have to work.

Thanks! Closest marina to us is Ventura, unfortunately. That said, I might be in your neck of the woods this weekend. We are looking at boats in the SD area.
