Hi From Thailand

Hi, I am English, retired, have a lot sailing experience. my current boat is a Freewind 40' (Leaky Teaky ) built in 1980 near Portsmouth, England, I live in Thailand and am in the process of bringing my boat out as cargo, she will be off loaded in Singapore end of Nov 2010. need to get the mast up, get her water tight & anti fouled, Engine needs some attention too. then sail her up to Phuket to get on with a lot of tidying up.
Would like to make contact with people who are based in SE Asia, to share experiences. Like; did you know of the new marina in the Krabi River? spotted 3 nov 2010, 20 ish berths, Water & Electric, Thai bhat 20 per Ft per day, easy walking distance to center of Krabi Town, lots of nice restaurants, Road & Air links.

Hi Moufflon,

Wish I could join you for the trip from Singapore. I'm in Indonesia on an assignment that won't be finished in time. I have a Brit friend there in Patia (sp) as well.

Have fun

Welcome

I am picking up my boat in Phuket on the 4th of December ...(only 30 Days to go not excited at all) I have a fair bit of work to do to mine as well, Have raced lasers and Nacra cats ,this will be my first Big boat very steep learning curve. Would be happy to have a yarn/bit of crewing if you are in the area.

Cheers Alex

Hi, welcome to the forum. I guess we will see each other in Singapore soon. Will you be at Raffles Marina for the rigging job? Cheers! Toby

Wow! Well done! I was trying to sell my boat in the UK and that was one of the boats I was looking to buy....Lovely boat! good pedigree, and it was priced to sell.
Hope you have many years of good sailing! are you going to keep her up here?

Moufflon, I live in Krabi but am in the US now and until January. I stopped by the new marina back in August before we left for the States and it didn't appear finished and no boats were berthed at that time. It looks nice but at that price, which works out to $700 a month for my 35 footer, I won't be using it.
