Hey Everyone, New Here.

Hey, it's good to be an official member here. I have done quiet a bit of reading on a lot of different subjects on this forum and I am looking foward to some advice in the future about my upcoming boat purchase this fall. Iam still relatively young (27) and I have a lot different mindset than most people my age. I am very independent and have always been a minimalist. Most of my adult life I have been able to pack most of the things I own on my back. I feel like a sailboat is the next step for me, the same step most people would probably be thinking about buying a house. This isn't just naive dreaming either. I have done some sailing before. Not much, but a lot more than most people my age. I have lived on the ocean for several months at a time and I hold my coast guard oupv captains license. Sailing is not something I am too familiar with but being on the water, the rules of the road and the issues involved with living on a boat are something I am familiar with. I am lucky enough to have a seasonal job that pays me well. Summertime Iam in Alaska fishing and after that I can do whatever I want. I will be buying a boat this fall and I hope to get some advice about some specific things unique to my situation that I haven't been able to find the answer to. Everyone here seems very knowledgable and I look forward to hearing from some of you.

Welcome, We have several others in your same situation who keep their boats here in the Bahamas and commute to seasonal jobs.

Re: Hey Everyone, New Here.

Welcome aboard. Being a minimalist will definitely stand you in good stead for cruising. Cruising requires a certain endurance and fortitude, but the pay off is grand.

Good luck.
