Hello all,
It seems I have always been a sailor ( my father was a sailing instructor ) so this is just a continuation of that theme. I have owned quite a few inland boats and have raced and won regattas in small boats. However, as I sit at a desk in corporate america and stare at my screens I still have a dream to
cruise on a
boat with my wife and just get away from it all. When that opportunity comes, I want to be prepared. The actual sailing part I think/hope I can handle, it's all the vitally important peripheral activities including
- Repairing an engine in an exotic location
- anchoring in different bottom types
- finding good fuel
- how to extend the proper courtesy among a cruising community
- repairing an auto-pilot while underway
- etc ...
that will definitely require more knowledge. I value vicarious
learning and appreciate the opportunity to be a part of this community. I want to be prepared and to be able to help others in the future with what knowledge I will have gained.
Thank you!
Bryan Franklin
