Good evening from Middle TN

I'm looking to learn about sailing/cruising. I first found the lifestyle on YouTube like a lot of people and became engulfed in watching videos of people cruising the Bahamas and thought, yeah that looks like fun. I'm wanting to try out a few different boats, one thing that worries the wife is seasickness. We were both U.S. Navy Sailors years ago, but on very large ships that didn't move that much. I'm drawn to Cats after watching the O' Kellys but realistically I probably have a Monohull budget. There are 2 sailing schools about 2 hours away from me, Sail Nashville and Lighthouse Landing in Grand Rivers, KY. I've also considered just spending a little more and doing a whole week to get ASA certified. Honestly I would just like to try out a couple cruises to make sure it is something that we enjoy, so we might look at chartering. If anyone has recommendations, please throw them below. Thanks!

Having given up sailing for a career at Sewanee, I can tell you that lake sailing in on TVA lakes is far different from cruising. I hope you'll make every opportunity to get to the coast and try out larger boats in open water, particularly as soon as your basic sailing skills mature.
