Its a great boat we just motor sailed her for the first time and it was awesome.

If you are in NJ, look up
marine fabricators. Don't go to regular welder because he may not comprehend
marine concepts. Yeah that
aluminum tang looks like it has very little "meat" to support the through-bolt. I would not send that somewhere. Just find a local fabricator or a rigger and have him make new one. Didn't you say you are getting new
rigging? That is a big job. 16k just for wire and turnbuckles is what i paid.
The first time I motor sailed, I was leaking more
fuel out the bottom of my
tanks than the
engine was consuming
. My
engine was replaced in 1991. Ford
Lehman North East 90HP was put in. That is different from SP 90 so while American
diesel was helpful, they could not supply any of the marinized
parts. My engine mounts were crap. 5/8" studs and one was broken, and the others were very rusty from previous owner almost sinking the
boat. That's probably why all my
tanks were leaking on the bottom as well.
I did do quite a bit of
work on the engine and shaft/transmission.
Here are few threads on my engine endeavors.
