"My wife, bless her heart thinks I'm crazy...."
At 40 I went to HQ to tell my boss I was taking a year off to go to sailing to the Caribbean
. One of my good friends told me later I had certainly been the topic-of-conversation at coffee time. He noted that 1//2 the people said, "The man is crazy he's giving up a very good government
career." Then he added, "The other half said,'The man is crazy', but they said it wistfully."
It turned out that I was not only crazy, but that I couldn't count. My one year sabbatical became SEVEN years. And the article I got published about a winter in the U.S. Virgin Islands
was titled All The Crazies End Up Here.
So your wife is absolutely correct, but not to worry--you'll fit right in!
