B and G Forward Scan Transducer mounting/installion on Bavaria 44

Hi Guys,

Been on a few years and just getting to the meet and great now....I was not aware of it! Sorry.

If anyone can help, it would be appreciated.

I have a B and G Forward Scan transducer,

I need to fit (varying reviews, but I have it already bought!)

Can someone tell me where is the best place I should fit this unit on a 2003 Bavaria 2003? It needs to be vertical, correct? Any help so much appreciated. Many thanks.

Alan

Re: B and G Forward Scan Transducer mounting/installion on Bavaria 44

Hi Alan, I installed one on our boat back in 2017. We find it especially useful when plying shallower, boulder and rock strewn passages.

The transducer installation manual should answer all of your questions.

I installed our B&G Forward Scan transducer just even with the leading edge of the keel, and to port. This met recommendations in the above manual.

The deadrise at that location was 29° so I had to order the extra long transducer. (Luckly the vendor took back the short transducer I initially ordered.)

Attached are some photos:
  • comparison transducer photo I took before returning the short transducer kit
  • finished fairing installation before antifouling paint (I used a bandsaw to slice the fairing block. As usual, measure and confirm 40-50 times; cut once.)
  • finished install- including transducer- after painting
  • finished install inside the hull

In case any of this is useful. Best wishes with your install.

Cheers, Bill

PS: Short green hose is to divert water from galley sink to a bucket to keep hull dry while painting...
