Had a great albeit land-based and short visit to Perth. For any cruisers visiting the area Rottnest Island is worth a visit to see the Quokkas (miniature Kangaroos). Very nice anchorage in the small patch of sand behind the rock reef at Parker Point, which is the site of (reportedly) the world’s southern-most
coral. It’s certainly there and they’ve created an underwater snorkeling interpretative trail with 11 markers and text. Max
draft about 1.5m at low tide to enter the
anchoring area. The afternoon sea breezes surely do make for brilliant sailing conditions. Humpback whales migrate through and hang out in the area July-September.
