Surely you meant "secede" and not "succeed" from the original country/province?

*** Country? ???? I wasn't aware that Texas is a recognized independent country? I (along with a lot of others) really super wish it was . . . Then I could import some of their "baby beef" which is darn good stuff.

Both Switzerland and Austria have a merchant navy with seagoing ships and a register of yachts. Why not Luxembourg? I only ever spoke to the owner of one Luxembourg registered yacht, in Calais from memory, and he kept his boat in Belgium.

Actually Texas was an independent country. The flag you saw was most likely on one of our navy ships that has not received word of our inclusion in the US. After all it took 3 years to find out that our slaves were freed.

Texas was actually one of the trendsetting countries that agreed to hand over our independence and vast natural resources to the US in exchange for military bases.

The program worked so well for the US that it has expanded the program over the last 150 years to Central America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. I hear Australia is on the short list for future expansion...

Spent tons of time in Texas and still have heaps of friends there!! Don't let them hear you talking like this as they still think and do want to be an independent country!! They are pretty hard core about their flag too!! It's everywhere, on everything and in all sizes!! Great place to be actually if you really love BBQ's, getting a tan, drinking.... wait a minute, I'm describing the yachting lifestyle too.....LOL

The problem with California is that there aren't enough Texans living there.

California has a looooooong list of problems - not enough Texans living here isn't one of them.

My observation gleened over several states is that one texan is usually quite enough.

Or are you saying texas wants to get rid of a few? Last time they sent one up to D.C. didn't work out so well.

I know of a bunch of people here in New Jersey that still wish it was "The Republic of Texas"!

Not me though... I spent a whole week there one night...
