Another example of unintended consequences. Another example, Florida recently got smart by maximizing the sales tax on boats. They realized that they were loosing millions in income by discouraging the megayachts to use Florida marine facilities and hurting the Florida marine industry.

The bridge fees were the result of construction cost to enlarge the wideth of the entrance and enlarge the drawbridge in order to allow larger Megayachts to berth at the, then new, Marina del Sol. What Marina del Sol paid for Snoopy Island is a subject for debate.
