Ya gotta kiss a lotta frogs to find your prince! As long as you don't get too attached too early, all that kissing could be fun! Black dolly and all!

Expectations are the key, you expect someone to be perfect they will most certainly disappoint you. You expect someone a bit like yourself in flaws and oddities then you may be more on track.

Everyone has a "whopper" in their character. You, me, everybody. A "whopper" is an unusual trait that sets them apart from others, as in..they believe they were abducted by aliens, loves to yodel, or collects paper clips . But there is someone in this world that is perfectly fine with your whopper and you will be perfectly fine with theirs.

Keep the faith, love your life just the way it is. If you don't love your life change it to better suit your happiness, soon your mate will be there by your side.
Cheers,
Erika

Yeah

Was going to post something similar about folks expecting too much - especially initially. An open mind and some realism about what the other half (and "you") is likely to be able to deliver - in addition to the dreams (ain't nothing wrong with the dreams as well ). But gotta remember that even Brad Pitt is not really Brad Pitt.

Somethings simply do not fit into the "I want it now. and I'm entitled" end of the modern western world - no matter how much it is wanted. or would be nice. or would be conveniant. No substitute for time on the plot..............for me "initially" is measured in months. if not years

I have definitely revamped my time frame expectations too (ETA for soul mate?). Frankly, I expected to buy a boat, work on it a bit, find my man, hop aboard his boat and sail off into the sunset. Sounded like a good plan to me. That is about what my mom did, and I was all set for me to follow in her footsteps. Now it is looking like I will actually do some single handing (dagnabbit) and have to tackle my electrical system (be afraid). But don't start up the violins, I am so happy just putzing on my beautiful vessel (have I mentioned how beautiful my Ocean Girl is?) making new friends, flirting with the occasional sailorman, and being a nurse. Life is good though a bit lonely at times.
Like many of my detours in life, singlehanding will be an adventure. That is how I learned I love asparagus, some waitress got my order wrong and gave me asparagus instead of green beans. Detours can change your life for the better.
Cheers,
Erika

DOJ, if you lived in my neck of the woods, I think you'd find me on your doorstep the one exception to my no bad boy rule.

BTW- Brad pitt? yuk.

yipes .. brad pitt... eeewewww----yipes.
cape dories are precious cute.
immediate gratification--doesnt include soulmateness...
immediate gratification isnt real.
sailing is as close to immediate gratification as it gets--expectation--isnt that fishing and thinking about dinner on the hook until nothing shows up and ye has to has mac n cheese for dinner???

some bad boys are good--depends on the kind of bad involved...there are differences..

Expect to be disapointed and you wont be far wrong.

Jeez I sound so cynical but Ive learned the hard way. If someone sounds too good to be true, they usually have a fatal flaw. (Sorry kids but you may as well hear the truth as waste half your life finding out the hard way)

I think im gonna become like Doris Day, Bridget Bardot or Agnetta Falskog (ABBA).
Gonna pull up the drawbridge, devote my life to something worthwhile and say fare thee well cruel world, go hence and do not darken my doorstep again, for thou art not worthy of my deeds or devotions, for I am in love with me and me alone.
thats how i feel about it also...well except the last part..i hate myself for loving me......So wanna come over for Kool-aid sometime??? lol

someones out there tho for us(still hoping in my case anyway).....i can feel it....just a lot of tricksters foolin people with ill intent who ruin it.

p.s. im a welding fool...lol...and dam good with the torch. i checked yer blog..if i was there i'd gladly help and you could admire my rod manipulating techniques...and make fun of me cause my welding hood fits over my hard hat
