I would rather have a full time partner, but i dont think it is neccesary. I browse these forums a lot and never recall running across a thread that talked about the advantages of sailing from a single persons romantic perspective.

i think most people set out to do what makes them happy, single or otherwise. I find looking for a partner can be VERY lonely. being happy being single seems to attract the opposite sex more than looking.

and there is also the strange phenomnnon that i have experienced. When i am single, all fo the ladies i try to date want nothing to do with me. as soon as i get into a relationship, all of the ladies i wanted to date are now interested... if i could jsut bottle up "taken" in a scent.

I think women think 'if she likes him he must be a good catch'. Trying to short circuit the wheat from chaff thing. Joke is, it's not true!

That's not a strange phenomenon at all. Why its been proven in my research with fruit flies. When male flies, including you, are single, you emit an aggressive mating hormone which in your case may be too aggressive for the mating pool. And when you are hitched up, you emit a wimpy husband/father hormone which all woman love.

It's all in the science! Just go with your inner fly.

Salty I think you must have studied different fruitflies than I did! Mine go thru a multi step courtship:
He comes up along side her, aif she stays
he touches her and checks her pheromones, if she stays
he then sings her a song, if she likes it and stays
then he licks her genitals, if she stays for that
he then attempts copulation.

If successful, he transfers, along with sperm, a chemical which kills the sperm from any subsequent matings so she can only have his offspring.

OK, go for it! Make any crazy analogies want!
