Ah, reading about this is all so sad since I just had to give up on my 1993 Ford Exploder with the six cylinder engine and fold-down back seat...And a space in the dash for an FM radio... Oh, the humanity, I miss that SUV, too many pot-holes on Mexican roads...Not even 250,000 miles on it...

Re: Sharing My Knuckle-Dragging Neanderthal Side with My Cruising Friends

Besides my various cars and trucks, one of my sons had a 76 Firebird Formula. He wanted a car of his own when he got his drivers license. That is what he picked out. Our agreement was he helped rebuild her and I would build him an engine for him and when he turned 21 I would sign it over to him. I built a Pontiac 400 for it. He then proceeded to torque out the transmission and rear end a few months after I told him not to "punch it" before we rebuilt the trans and rear to race specs. Then he learned about rebuilding to performance level his trans and rear.
He still owns the car. And, as far as I know no speeding tickets.

Re: Sharing My Knuckle-Dragging Neanderthal Side with My Cruising Friends

I built a rotary Ute, I used a 69 Mazda B1600 shell, dropped it 9 inches, changed the back end suspension to allow grip with horsepower and added a 300hp naturally asperated 12a rotary. ace it a few times came second in my class at the nationals before I sold it and became responsible.

I sure was fun though, 141db at idle, 7 gearboxes in a 6 week space (we got it down to 45min drive in drive out with a new gearbox).
