Motion Sickness

Has anyone use MotionEaze to keep motion sickness under control. Any better suggestions?

My girlfriend uses MotionEaze and she reports that it works fairly well. Since she has started using it (and now that I have convinced her of the importance of proper hydration) she has not expecienced motion sickness.

I bought the MotionEze bands, and have not been seasick since. Of course, I haven't used them, but since I have had them on the boat, I haven't needed them From what I hear from others, they work great, and as opposed to pills, they can be used after you are already feeling the effects of seasickness. They also do not make you drowsy.

I don't get motion sickness (sea sickness) often, but when I do I have been using Ginger Candy. From what I can tell, It can be eaten at anytime. By that I mean after you get seasick you can eat one. I have given this to another person and they said that it worked.

Please note that this is not peperment candy, it is strong, and not sweet.

Wrist bands work, sometimes, for some people. But none of the seasickness solutions (including drugs) work for more than about 1/3 of the people who try them. With the wrist bands, proper placement of the button and having them tight is important.

"Ginger Candy" can be confusing. "Candied Ginger" is ginger root, sliced and then allowed to dry in a sugar solution till it crystallizes. Best found in oriental groceries where the quality is good the price reasonable.<G> You'll find candied melons and other non-anglo treats in the same section.

I tend to use a single hyoscine hydrobromide 0.3mg pill at the start of the journey and I am then good for the complete journey unless conditions really go down the pan. My wife uses the bands and believes in them.

That's what we know as Scopalamine in the US. Here, it was available for a while as non-rx tablets but those wre pulled off the market in the 80's because of some abuse in conjunction with other drugs. We have it again but solely by rx. Apparently in the UK you can still buy the tablets but need the rx for the patch.
Contraindictions and side effects can be very serious, if they aren't in your packet, download and be aware of them. (Great stuff if the problems don't affect you!)

IIRC, the drug was invented originally to combat seasickness for the soldiers landing at Normandy in WW2.
