South Pacific

Hi everyone, I'm looking to take a long break from work and have been thinking about using the time to cruise to south Pacific. I'm about a year from making this happen as i need to spend some time on the boat and to do a heap of research.I'm looking for any advice that would make this trip a little easier. Such as nice places to visit and not so nice and also books that i could read to get more info. Help need. Cheers

Welcome Aboard Cruisers Forum and enjoy

Where will you be sailing out of?
You can try Googling something like Tahiti Cruising Guide, etc.
Also go to Noonsite: The global site for cruising sailors they have loads of info that;s country specific...

Re: South Pacific

If you are presently in the North Pacific simply sail south. Nice places to visit are almost always on a coast or island. Any more questions?

Re: South Pacific

There are definite cruising seasons to be aware of. People time the trip to avoid cyclones, for example. Jimmy Cornell has a couple of books, including world cruising routes that will be indispensable in trip planning. Best to have a quick look early in the planning as you will be able to figure out what time of year you want to leave and thus how much time you have left for outfitting and gaining more experience!
