cheers,
Definitely would, but only if you use your solar panels to charge the electric bike then use the electric bike to charge your batteries.
Can’t see anything wrong with that!

Re: Second liveaboard question: aerobic exercise?

Ok if you REALLY want exercise.. and just general exercise. Theres absolutely nothing these "exercise gurus" have that compares remotely to what the US army puts you through in basic, airborne and ranger training. You need a body length of space and ... well very few of those "gurus" could hang. There should be some written down versions of the routines. I can tell you coming out of basic able to do headstand pushups and march up mountains you wouldnt believe in full packs an hour of airborne calesthenics kicked our asses

Wow, we haven't been on a dock in 6 years but our boats only 60ft long
Where does all this walking come into it?
Endless laps?

Re: Second liveaboard question: aerobic exercise?

To the OP:
Are you seriously considering getting off your boat WHILE its sailing along and kayaking around it to stay fit???? I say this because you mentioned "big swells" and the boat "getting away". This is a very crazy idea.

Could you tell us a bit about your actual sailing experience, not just stuff you've read in books or internet videos?

Re pedalling your bike on rollers in the cabin while the boat is sailing: depends on how big your boat is. I once delivered an 82ft alloy ketch, which was built at a cost of about 5 million $, the owner had a complete pedal exercise machine on a hydraulic lift that came out of floor of the main saloon.

I cruised continuously for 17 years, did a lot of long passages, and "fitness" was never a problem. Ok, to start with I don't drink booze, eat well, and have good genetics. Sailing a 40ft yacht was pretty good exercise, and when at anchor I did a LOT of free diving and spear fishing, plus hiking when I went ashore. The out of shape cruisers I encountered were mostly boozers. Some people seem to think you have to booze it up to be a "real" sailor. Sad but true, I met a fair share of cruisers who were actually alcoholics.
