Noise insect/creature

Hi, we're presently on the Sardinian west coast. Has anyone ever come across a singing (continous fairy hig pitched chirp at night) insect/creature in the head lining?

Re: Noise insect/creature

I realize this is slightly OT but your dilemma reminded me that years ago I gave a friend of mine a 'ships wheel clock' as a wedding present for he and his wife. It was like a 14" diameter ships wheel with a clock in the center that was made in Malaysia or somewhere around there. He hung it on the wall in back of his desk. Years later we were having lunch and he says, "Do you remember that ships wheel clock you gave us as a wedding gift?" I said, "Sure."

He then relates a story where every time he sat down at his desk recently he could hear a crunching sound but he couldn't figure out where the noise was coming from. After a while he figured out it was coming from the clock. He said when he went to take the clock off the wall to inspect it the whole clock disintegrated in his hand as he removed it from the wall.

It turns out some kind of wood eating creature had been living in the clock, most likely since the day it was made, and had eaten out the entire perimeter of the ships wheel making it hollow. The only thing holding it together was a thin layer of wood underneath the varnish.

Do you have a ships wheel clock on board? (j/k)

Hi, ipapadi,

Ask a local. Everywhere has insects. In California, it'd be crickets.
