Re: Live Aboard Video Blog! MA to Bahamas

wicked salty (Wes+Kate), don't change the name of the boat it is bad luck to change the original name that the boat is christened as. Keep "Parity" it means two things that are equal, Hmmmm.... Kinda fits being that you guys, Wes and Kate are partners/boyandgirl friends!
Best to you,
Navy Davy

Isn't there a procedure to changing a boat name. With both of them being from Massachusetts, Wicked Salty is the perfect name for the boat.

As I posted earlier, Changing the original name of a boat is BAD LUCK ! Parity means "2 that are equal" now 2 people that own a boat and considered equal is "Parity" the perfect name for a couple living on a boat. Also changing the name is a hastle and the transom has "Parity" on it. Another hastle to repaint a different name. But I won't be sailing on that boat anyway, so the bad luck will be all Wes and Kate's to deal with. Good luck Wes and Kate !

Many choices can be made to increase the success for living aboard and cruising, but anxiety about name changing, luck, ghosts and fate are useless diversions of a primative culture.

And there are ways to change the name while appeasing the gods. We followed the Bluewater Sailing denaming and renaming ceremony. It was a blast! We had some friends and family with us and it is one of best boat memories.

Small world
Just happen to go on this section of cf and noticed that you moored in scituate for part of the summer.
I noticed your boat because I have a mooring a few boats away and passed by on my inflatable just about every night!
Will keep track of you as you head South.
Pete

Looks like they are in Oriental having a coffee at the famous bean across from the free town dock.
Check out towndock.net web cams and you may spot them

This. But if you are truly anxious about changing the boat's name there are rituals that can be performed to counteract the bad karma.

The rituals involve friends and a few bottles of wine. A small amount of wine is poured as a libation to each of the four winds and a large amount of wine is shared among the crew.

My liver barely survived the ritual, but from then on, good luck prevailed after we changed the name of one of our boats.

Wicked Salty, would be a great name. JMHO.

Hey, Congratulations on your escape! You are making the right decision to go now. My first trip on a sailboat to the Bahamas was in my 20's, but I already had a job, house mortgage and car payments and was trapped or I would have stayed. You're doing what I wish I had done back then. It finally took me to 51 to make my escape. Can't wait to see some more videos and here what y'all are doing!
