last pair of shoes
If you could have only one pair of shoes onboard your
boat while cruising in tropical climates, what would they be? Without the foot odor!

I "cruise" barefoot. When things get sporty I wear closed toe. With a limit of one pair, I gues they have to do ship to shore duties (the ocassional restaurant, wedding, funeral or bah mitvah)
With that limit it would be a
classic deck shoe.
With two pairs I would add a pair of Birkenstock flops.
The third pair would be a draining quick dry closed toed shoe.

Surprisingly, if you know anything about Payless shoes.

Re: last pair of shoes
I wore several different brands of sandals. Things to look out for:
1) While Velcro is great for adjusting fit, if you have to use it every day to get in and out it can wear out quickly. I had one expensive name brand pair that had the Velcro die on one in about a month. Get a pair with a plastic snap closure.
2) Avoid leather. Another name brand pair got really stinky as the leather went bad. Synthetics are your friend.
3) When fitting be very sensitive to plastic
parts and other
parts that can become very uncomfortable over time.
4) Avoid siped soles - the fine cuts trap sand which you then bring aboard.
5) Cushioned straps and straps made from
fabric instead of webbing are more comfortable.
I like the
Reefs above, as they tick all of the boxes. But I have also found good no-name sandals that also fill the bill.

Crocs bought in S.E. Asian markets with the deep tread have done us well for years just buy enough pairs and do not wear them too smooth.

Re: last pair of shoes
I think I'd go for a pair of Keen
Newport sandals. Closed toes, don't mar the
deck , good traction, can get 'em wet, walk on
reefs , wear 'em with socks for heavy duty hiking ashore, won't get dirty looks for wearing 'em in a nice restaurant...

Keene's makes a closed toe flip flop that is out of this world, no stubbed toes.

Re: last pair of shoes
I had new Teva's 5 years ago which fell apart and smelled. Keen's have a little aroma but it may just be me
. Will look at Reef's and check out Payless.
