jabsco electric marine toilet

Hello all i hope someone out there would be kind enough to share some info on the electric Jabsco marine toilet set up. In our restroom/ head there is a toilet installed on a platform and sitting next to it on the floor is a small container with a fairly large screw off lid. The tank is plumbed in and is set up for tank and overboard flushing. Unfortunately the previous owner had passed away and his wife had no info to offer us. We are fairly new to this type of boating and I am not sure what this tank is for. All the video's I have found on you tube do NOT show anything similar.
