Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

Hey Don, I'll need to remember to look for you on a different boat! Will it still be known as "Nomad"?

BTW, I saw your listing in the boats classified section. Be sure to comply with the format and include the asking price as well as at least one photo, as this is required for our classified boat ads.

I think the price and the photos will give it more attention I know it's a beauty and I always admired it!

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

What type and power of boat are you looking for? I'am on the Mississippi River north of St. Louis and know of a couple of boats, I have no interest in them. One is on the dock I'am on and owned by a couple who bought it new they are in their late 80s and for health reasons gave up boating last year. It's a very well cared for Silverton 32' to 34', no electronics, I've heard he is willing to take way less than what book value is, not that I believe that book value is very accurate.

I will keep all the same info, but I may change the name (Nomad Too?).

I will make sure she gets a good home.

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

An era has ended, I have sold the Nomad! I am waiting for the survey to be complete and the check to clear then it's off to Florida to find a new home. It will float, but it will be powered, not sail. I am looking at two trawlers, one on the east coast and one on the west coast, of Florida.

I am taking a lesson from Travis McGee and going to the dark side, it's just a "Leap of Faith" but I will be at sea and happy.

Well, you have managed just about 5 years in it. Time to give somebody else a turn.

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

The contract has been signed and the keys delivered, Nomad is no longer mine. This is a picture from my last ride down the ICW from Grande Dunes Marina to Georgetown. Beautiful day. There were a large number of snowbirds that were caught after Matthew caused the Socastee swing bridge to close.

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

And this is a picture of the new and improved Nomad. Yes I am keeping the name. We close on November 2nd. Delay due to marina conditions in Hilton Head after Matthew.

I started this trip 5 years ago (December 5, 2011) and it will continue, just in a different way. I will see you at a harbor or anchorage in St. Somewhere.

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

Hey, Don, thanks for the update. As you likely recall we've crossed paths about 8 or 9 times over the years. I'll be looking for a new profile next time we see you. 'Nice looking vessel!

Captn Force, Just keep those big reg and green glass bulbs on your ship and I'll find you. I'll still be called Nomad, that's just me. I'll look for you somewhere on the ICW, or down the St. John's River. Just keep an eye out for the Nomad.

BTW: The Survey:
OK, I had the survey done. Not too much to get done, but some of it can be expensive. The controls from the fly bridge were “sticky”, in other words they locked up. The owners captain actually rammed the dock because he couldn’t get them into reverse. One engine was hard to start, or rather hard to keep going for a while (looked like fuel starvation) this “corrected itself” and the engine ran till we go to the marina for haul out. But the engine was again hard to start when we started back. The Fuel gauges either don’t work or there was no fuel in the tanks. Other small stuff, but the agent said he would fix everything.

There was one other thing that was serious, A pinhole leak in a metal pipe that connects two raw water hoses. If the pipe is not connected to the boat ground this could just be an isolated failure, if it is connected then there could be other damage to the heat exchanger. This could have been caused by not replacing the zinc in the heat exchanger.

This is what the leak looks like in action:

Well, now to see how well the agent carries through and gets the hit list fixed. He said two weeks, but I can see thanksgiving with me still in Myrtle Beach.
