How do I quiet a squeaky fender?

Could someone explain to me what I am seeing with the PVC pieces and their purpose? They cushion the fenders?

This type is used against pilings. The PVC rubs easily up and down the piling with tides flood/ebb. The fenders cushion the PVC and they are against the vessel. This set up normally does not move up and down against the vessel.

Yes, I used the material from a lightweight fleece blanket - very soft, dries quickly, works well...

One advantage of a traditional fender board, however... One of sufficient length and width, might be pressed into service as a 'passarelle' when Med-moored, or tied well away from a dock...

Wouldn't want to try that with a PVC pipe...

You could have both, a nice board with PVC pipe ripped in half. Two halves secured along one side of board...?

I had to look up pilings. Individual posts sticking out of the water? So, there is no dock?

What keeps the boat from spinning around the piling?

You would be tied to more than one piling and with a little luck there will be a dock on the other side of them.

Here is the last dock of this type that I was tied to. I used two boards (of the primitive wooden variety) with two fenders behind each.

What is the wall thickness of the pipe you're using? Also, what are your average maximum wind strengths where the boat is berthed? Is it common to see over 40 knots? Do you ever see over 60?

Not sure of the exact wall thickness of the PVC pipe. Looks like maybe 1/4 inch.

My boat is 47 feet, so it's pretty heavy and we've been at fixed docks with strong winds with no problems. If I have any concerns, I can add a third fender in the middle.

I haven't been fortunate enough to have ever med-moored, so I don't need a ramp.

In schedule 80, it has a min. wall thickness of 0.300".
