Gib Sea Master 52 looking for reviews

Hello sailors,

I'm looking Into Gib Sea Master 52 reviews or test sail feedback, but there is hardly any information on these. Does anyone know or had/have expirience and feedback of this type of yacht I.e. Sailing performance, structure, what to look for, pros & cons. Maybe tests?

Thanks for reading and feedback!

Re: Gib Sea Master 52 looking for reviews

Hello,

I noticed you haven’t had a reply yet and as we are in the process of buying a Gib’Sea Master 48 I think I can add something to this thread.

We are well into the purchase process and have had it surveyed, test sailed it, and paid the deposit - my family and I expect to move aboard in 3 weeks from now.

The survey report apart from some minor maintenance requirements looks good. Some notable points that I have been happy with:
- the hull isn’t overly flat compared to other production yachts
- the hull is well laid (circa 1998) and has well placed and frequent cross beams and stringers
- the GRP hull has virtually no osmosis and is considered good thickness
- cross beams and strings are all grooved and tabbed in.
- our teak deck is getting tired but the deck core shows no sign of water ingress after thorough testing by the surveyor.

There is not much around the internet about these yachts so if you have any more questions I would be happy to help.

The previous owner to us has recently completed a 3000nm voyage short and then some single handed around New Zealand, he reported the boat handled the occasional storms very well in the higher latitudes.

All the best. Daniel.

Dear Daniel.

Congratulations to your new yacht.

I also have purchased, but a Gib Sea master 52/ 1989

Currently we are in the Maldives transiting towards Thailand (Hopefully).
I bought her in Turkey last year and had lots of unforeseen repairs to do (even with survey done). Maybe good if you could check the chain plates which was a big issue during our crossing (just for your safety).

Would be nice to see some pictures of yours.

wishing you fair winds and hope some day our cruising grounds will drop anchor on the same place.

Hello Gerry, I can give you first hand experience on the one I bought. Someone is now looking at Gaya which I was also interested. If you like more information I be happy to give further detail as I sailed her from Turkey to Asia/Phuket (5600nm)
