Eastern Shore MD options?

We're planning to go totally wet in december of '13 and are interested in the Eastern Shore as a potential livaboard location. Any suggestions? Our tastes run to small, quiet, out of the way, and inexpensive. Shallow draft is just fine (our houseboat draws all of about 11 inches). Have been looking south of Easton recently and really like that area.

Most likely you will love it almost anywhere in Chesapeake Bay. We stayed around Yorktown, Virginia Beach in 2011 and we loved it. Now we are in Fl and thinking to go back and properly explore Chesapeake!

South of Easton is definitely going to be less expensive, and Cambridge even more so. If you go farther south than Cambridge you're really going to be out of the way. Cambridge is a wonderful spot.

any marina recommendations in the Cambridge area?

Not south of Easton but may fit your other criteria. Castle Harbor Marina on Kent Island (Chester).

If you want no frills the Cambridge Municipal Marina is reasonable. They do cut the water around November to April. There was bus service at the marina that would take you to shopping don't know if available this year. Town is in walking distance. Choptank is a great place to cruise and anchor.

Easton Point Marina is WAY up the Tred Avon -- and so relatively close to Easton -- that you might check out. It's starting to get a little shallower up there, but might be fine for you.

We like Worton, Maryland and the three marinas that are tucked in that protected space. It's especially good if you have a car to get you in to the back side of Chestertown. Worton Marina is our favorite. We have been "liveaboards" there and at Green Point Marina; however, we move about and rarely stay in one spot for more than a few months so I don't think they consider us "liveaboards" beyond those that are transients taking a montly rate. It's not uncommon for "transients" to take a monthly rate at a marina for a very long term,- even years.

Try sailing associates across from georgetown md. Small quite, family run, good service. I've been there a year and no problems. They do turn the water off over the winter.
