Re: Anyone?

It really depends on the boat. I couldn't do it without standing headroom. I'm too old and my back just can't do that anymore. If you are planning on it with the boat I see in your pictures I couldn't do it.

That said, if YOU can handle that then go for it. If you are at a marina that has showers you can use even better. It's really hard to give good answers without knowing more about your situation.

My wife and I - and a cat - lived aboard our Catalina 27 for 3 years when we were in our 20's. It was great, we loved it ! We were at a marina with showers so we managed just fine, we were weekend sailors and held full time jobs. It was a good time back then.

Give us more info and you will get better answers.

pirate Re: Anyone?

Hi.. I lived aboard a H22 and a Corribee 21 for a while..
Had a 2 burner camping stove and the marine heads was between the V berth which I used mainly as a place to store clothes and food/bottled water for drinking.
For showers I used to go to the Sports Centre pool and use the facilities after work.
Got used to the 4ft 6" headroom pretty quick doing bum slides Fore and Aft along the settee berths and dressed in the hatch way under the sprayhood.
Sailed both down to Portugal from the UK.
Also lived aboard a Voyager 23 which was better with 6ft headroom, separate heads compartment and full cooker.
Did not sail as well as the other two due to the higher freeboard.. ended up part exchanging it for a Tiki 26 after 16mths.
PS; I was much younger then..

Re: Anyone?

well, i have an oday 22. in respects to the headroom. ya its not good, im 5,9 and have to bend. the sitting room is fine. , i was thinking of redoing the cabin and v berth. maybe making the vbirth a lil bigger somehow. . was also thinking on making one of the settees into a full cooker, and then a enclosed head . not sure how to go about doing this? or even if it will work. any ideas?

Re: Anyone?

I've been looking at this concept for a while. (I think i'd rather team up on a flicka than the cirrus for layout, but I'm teamed up)

Living aboard and cruising aboard are different, of course- but there sure is something to be said on the liveaboard side for lower slip fees, haulouts, trailer options.

I personally have found- on the water, moving around on the water, or in a small RV- the more minimalism you can tolerate, the less everything in life seems to cost.

That being said, our search right now is probably going to end up in the 27 foot range
