Anchoring near LIRR station

I'm sailing from Newport to NYC with a friend next week, dropping her off before I go under the Throgs Neck. She wants to get off my boat and take an Uber to an LIRR station (she lives in Queens). The Douglaston station looks close to the water but I draw 5'6" and Little Neck Bay looks pretty shallow at the south end (closest to the station). Manhasset and Port Wash statons are also on my radar. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best dock to pull up to or anchorage I can dinghy to shore from that will put me in an Uber-accessible location near an LIRR station?

Definitely a good idea - five minute uber to the LIRR, only 20-25 min to Flushing, Queens, and it's a lovely harbor to boot.

PS: I am biased, my home town.

Thanks all, Port Wash it is. And not to cast aspersions, a town dock is a lot more female-passenger friendly than my previous choice, dinghying to Leeds Pond Beach

I was thinking the same thing. Thinking she was a pretty rugged girl to be able to get out of the dinghy into all of that mud and weeds, and then cross the active train tracks to try to get to the station. Lol

Watch that electric rail! Yikes. Ha ha

Re: Anchoring near LIRR station

Are you just headed to city to drop off or are you going thru the city to the lower harbor?

Worlds fair marina is an Uber away from subways, there are bus stops close, easy on easy off.
Little bay just before the throngs neck bridge has a beach on the south side of the jetty with multiple bus routes literally feet from the beach.

Oyster bay has an LIRR station a block from the OBMC gas dock with stops in northern queens.
No Uber necessary, Just to give you options

Re: Anchoring near LIRR station

Sounds like you have already decided, but another +1 for Port Washington.
Lots of room to anchor if you prefer, or the mooring balls are very reasonable and include water taxi service.

It is a very manageable walk to the train station from the dock. We took an Uber in to Manhattan and then rode the train back.

We went there to send a couple nights on anchor before heading in to NYC and got turned around on our way to NYC when the UN was having their first big session in years since Covid. Both sides of the East river were completely closed down several days in a row so we ended up going back to Port Washington and took a ball and hung out for a few more days.

Re: Anchoring near LIRR station

As noted, pick up a mooring and take the water taxi in. Easy walk to the LIRR. We love Port W
