Want To Buy: RCA70 Gypsy for my old Simpson Lawrence Hyspeed

Looking for a used gypsy for my Simpson Lawrence Hyspeed.
RCA70 is needed (has 7 pockets per full turn, not 6)
A.K.A. RCA-70 or RCA 70.





(I can find the part new but rebuilding this thing might end up costing more than replacement. Trying to avoid it. I might be looking for a long time so please PM me even if this post is old)

Do you know if a gypsy from a 555 will fit, I have one?

I don't know where you are, but Bacon's in Annapolis has a bunch of random gypsies.

I just paid to ship something heavy from Bacon's.... so Murphy's law MIGHT work in my favor this one time.


I will ask SLPARTS if the 555 will fit, but it lists as a separate part number in the owner manuals.

The A70 is the gypsy for this that is not able to take rope, it can only take chain. I would be happy with that also.

From what i heard it will sadly not fit.

Internal diameter (or shaft diameter) is 28.75mm or 1.13inches. No woodruffkey or spline.

Outer diameter of the entire gypsy is 5 inches. The outer diameter of the teeth that the pawl grabs is 3.8 inches.

I had sent photos and measurements to Bacon, who looked for it.... but they said 'no luck' in finding a fit.

With the product ID number you provided they found it and I ordered it just now.

Sadly it was cast iron. But it fits. So i have a temporary solution and that is a good thing. Still looking for a bronze one if anyone has one. Thanks, Pete
