DR7400 Pactor4 modem

Pactor 4 SCS DR7400 modem, upgraded with internal Bluetooth module making it a DR7403 modem. Includes software and three cables as well as some chokes.
Modem and Icom M802 radio were removed from my boat prior to selling the boat. The radio has been sold leaving the modem to be sold.

Asking $1200 USD.

Pictures available.

Re: DR7400 Pactor4 modem

For anyone considering PACTOR, P4 is a big jump in performace. I just used this model of modem extensively on a long crossing...more reliable on noisy connections and much faster on good ones.

Do you happen to know if one of the cords will work with our icom ic-m710. If so, I might be interested at the right price point.

I have the same PACTOR model..prefer the Bluetooth over hardwire as it eliminates any chance of RF feedback getting back in and causing distortion. Unless your using Sailmail..US Amateurs are not permitted to use PACTOR 4 while in CONUS...

Sorry, I have no idea. Maybe SCS has a direct cable? Maybe ICOM can give you more info on the difference in the ports between the M710 and M802.
Maybe some SCS resellers could answer that question ?

That was my thinking as well when I ordered the Bluetooth version. It also makes things more convenient if you use a laptop.
I was not aware of the restriction on Pactor4 .... but of course this model works with any of the older Pactor modes so other than an annoyance, it's not an issue.

Re: DR7400 Pactor4 modem

Does the modem need to be connected by wire to the ssb, or does it listen to the broadcast then transfer info via bluetooth to the pc.

The modem connects to the ssb but all communications from and to the computer happens via bluetooth (or USB if desired).

The connections on the back of the modem are 'TRX control','TRX Audio' as well as USB, GPS and DC in.

TRX control and TRX Audio connect the radio to the modem, USB is the communication between the computer and the modem which can also be done via bluetooth, GPS is the input of the boat's GPS signal to the modem.

Did some googling and found this:

Pactor Modem Cables - White Squall Consulting Inc.

There is a model 8195 frequency control cable for the ICOM M710 and a 8090 audio cable for any ICOM radio that has an ACC 8 pin DIN connector. This would suggest to me that the modem is compatible with the ICOM M710. You might want to double check ....

Re: DR7400 Pactor4 modem

After contacting Farallon Electronics, SCS west coast distributor, only needed 3 wire connection points, Ground, 12v source, and AF output from my SEA 322 HF radio to the DR 7403 modem..
