Here is a deal if you are quick...

There are a couple of others listed as well.
The
Pactor II and III modems (really the same
modem as it's just a firmware upgrade to use pactor III) are a bit like diamonds, they are a monopoly and over priced. But, that doesn't stop my wife from wanting a nice diamond, and it doesn't stop me from
buying a Pactor modem. SCS is the ony maker, and so the only big discounts available are from
buying used. I was lucky to get a used Pactor Pro with the III firmware for about half the
price of new. If buying new, I would concern myself more with
service. I bought a cable from dockside
radio and they were very helpful. I think their kits look like a good deal.

If you are using a modern
SSB radio with computer control, I recomend the the pro model. It is very handy to just select a station and frequency from a drop down menu and have the radio change to the right settings. This is really nice when searching for an clear station/frequency. In my case I have an
Icom 706 ham radio.
Good Luck, Woody
